Do you use Photoshop for post processing and image manipulation?
John Nack from Adobe has a recommendation on what the machine should have inside its box to be able to run smoothly to perform the heavy duty algorithmic edits on your images. Please refer to his post where he discusses RAM and other technical things which a photographer might find easy to choose the individual components for a custom machine.
