There are rooms near bhawan for overnight stay but you need to take a booking slip from Shrine board before you start the ascend.

Once the slip it given, it is a confirmation of your room. The payment has to be done at the top.

Generally they are hard to get until you have a recommendation letter from some VIP govt official.

I have never stayed as you do not feel tired after darshan. The road is also active 24×7 with people so no issues coming down the same day.

The driver stopped our car right in the middle of the road and asked us to look right. As Sarthak said, our hearts definitely skipped a few beats and it was definitely out of fear – no question about it. As we watched that majestic tiger (hardly 50 feet away), we quickly realized that it was guarding its kill (a deer). Our driver asked us to roll up the window shutters so that we would be safe even if the Tiger made a move towards us. For the next 5-10 minutes, not only did we stare at the tiger without blinking, it returned the favour as well (of course, for different reasons!!). My parents had an Agfa basic camera at that time and even that was tucked inside a bag that was kept in the trunk of the car. So, all that I have today is that wonderful picture in my mind (and heart, probably out of sheer fear) and I do cherish it.

The next incident happened deep inside the Bandipur forest area while we were on a safari in their own vehicle. We were chased by a herd of elephants and a couple of elephants came so close to knocking us over that even the forest rangers were spellbound!! It was almost re-birth :-(
