Adobe launches CS6 and creative cloud

On April 23, 2012 Adobe Systems Inc announced the launch of CS6 (Creative Suite version 6) release of their flagship products like Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and many more. Apart from these applications which have made digital graphic unimaginable and limited only by the creativity of artists.

Adobe CS6 and Creative cloud

Adobe CS6 and Creative cloud

Another historical shift with this release is the launch of Adobe Creative Cloud. This breaks the barrier of using Adobe software without draining your wallet. You can rent these softwares for $49 a month. This amount is not limited to the above 4 applications but a whole set of 24 applications.

If you a Photographer, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 is also included in this package of $49. It also allows for 20GB of online storage space where data once stored can be synced across multiple devices.

If you still want to own the software and are not a fan of renting it for your usage, the option is still there. The advantage with creative cloud is “You no longer have to wait 12, 18, or 24 months for the latest innovations.”

A comment which will resonate with this strategy of Adobe is “29.99 for the student version, I think I can skip one movie date a month to afford this, Thanks Adobe”

Caution while photographing “Great Indian Bustard”

APPEAL:

Great Indian Bustard

Great Indian Bustard

Photographers, please be careful when capturing the shots and moments of critically endangered Great Indian Bustard. The forest department has restricted the movement of people in the Naliya grasslands, Kutch district.

This move is an attempt to conserve this species from extinction. Un-ethical ways of photographing these birds in their habitat seems to have led to this restriction. Some times people get over enthusiastic of seeing something which has been declared critically endangered.

The birds breeding season spans from April to October.

This guidance of restricted movement is part of Great Indian Bustard Recovery Programme from Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) through the Deputy conservator of forests, Kutch (West) division, P A Vihol.

Any person found violating the guidelines shall be prosecuted under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972. This is a deterrent for people (including photographers) to leave the birds alone specially during their nesting/breeding time.

Lets hope, with some less selfishness, that we can see this heavy bird found only in the sub-continental region remove the endangered tag from it.

Confirmed: Sariska relocated cat poisoned

The forensic reports are out and the relocated Tiger from Ranthambore was allegedly poisoned by one of the common insecticide used by farmers in their fields.

This is one big blow to all efforts to bring back tigers to its den which were supposedly poached to extinction from this Tiger reserve. The cat was re-located from Ranthambore in 2008.

Goods train and elephants killed

Elephant hit by train

Elephant hit by train

Tiger news may be exciting with cub reports and new sightings at higher altitudes. But there is carelessness at lower altitudes for other animals as well.

Is the focus only on tiger conservation and all the resources have been pulled to this cause? A goods train in north Bengal in India ran over 7 elephants killing them. Yes 7 asian elephants have been killed in no time after being hit by a goods train in the Banarhat area of Jalpaiguri district on Wednesday night.

The herd of 7 elephants left four filled on the spot after collision, the remaining 3 died the next day. It seemed like an extended family with including sub-adults and two juvenile elephants.

The forest department has requested to run the train at lower speeds in this stretch but there is always hurry for everyone, and the train driver was no exception. Is running at 70km/hr against the requested 25km/hr going to bring back the elephant family?

A case has been booked against Subhankar Sarkar, train driver. The train runs across the forest areas in Dooars at odd times including night which is the most active time for elephants to feed.

Elephants need to feed around 10% of their body every day. This approximately 100-300kg of food per day which takes about 12-15 hours per day feeding. A rough estimates states that there are only 26,000 Asian elephants in wild in India.

This is not the first incident, three months ago, another elephant was run over and killed by a train near the same spot. Reports are even stating that 30 elephants have died in such collision incidents in the past years.
