Pondicherry is the old named for the same city now named as Puducherry. It is difficult for me to understand the reasoning for this change but it is now Puducherry officially.

A place advertised for its relaxing air and unwinding atmosphere. A person with nothing to do can just roam around the city for days like I did on one of the trips. A hot cup of tea at local tea stall watching the sun rise behind Bay of Bengal is a beautiful experience.

The day can get hot and not much energy on the streets. Evening are the times when local dwellers and tourists come out on the beach and promenade making a fair every day. The place has been heavily influenced by French in its lifestyle, architecture and other daily routines one sees around themselves.

Administration wise, it is not classified as a state and falls under the Union Territory category along with Goa.
